Brownie pudding (or Chocolate Sundae Cake)

 

1 cup flour

2 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp salt

3/4 cup sugar

2 tbsp cocoa (for cake)

1/4 cup cocoa (for pudding)

1/2 cup milk

1 tsp vanilla

1 tbsp shortening

3/4 cups chopped nuts (walnuts recommended)

 

     Sift flour, baking powder, 2 tbsp cocoa, salt and sugar into bowl and blend together.  Add milk, shortening and vanilla and mix until smooth.  Pour batter into 8" square cake pan.

     Mix brown sugar and 1/4 cup cocoa together. Sprinkle over batter.  Pour 1 3/4 cups boiling hot water over entire batter.  Bake at 350° F for 40-45 minutes.  Cake rises to top and pudding will goes to bottom.
